"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any...."
Mark 11:25
There
is no yoke that is heavier than the burden of unforgiving spirit. It
ties your heart to that of the offender with a chord of malice. Your
heart cannot enjoy true peace except you forgive the offender and
forget the offence. When you nurse a grudge, you breed the seed of
bitterness and its root will spring up to defile. (Hebrews 12:15).
What happens when we refuse to forgive? Unforgiving spirit, if it is allowed to fester in the heart, will block your fellowship with the Father; will make God to leave
you alone to face the problems of life in your own power; lose the
blessing of God on your life; waste time nursing a wounded spirit;
become enslaved to the people you hate; make the devil to gain a
foothold through your bitterness; and worse still, force God to become
your enemy. Forgiveness
is, therefore, a sure way to peace, progress and prosperity. The best
compliment you can give to your “enemy” is forgiveness. Without it,
your life will be surrounded with stress-inviting activities.
